The Platform for Progress Government Reform Coalition seeks to improve the quality of New Jersey's government by establishing ethical reform at all levels of responsibility.  It is the goal of this initiative to improve New Jersey's image to both internal and external audiences, and to do so in partnership with like-minded organizations.

2008-09 Agenda

Long Term Goal: Establish reforms at all levels of New Jersey Government that will serve to improve service delivery and increase the public perception of government.

Objective 1: Increase transparency and accountability within New Jersey governmental entities.

Consensus Items:

  • Improve public awareness of currently available data on governmental entities.
  • Help improve the functions of government where these functions interact with the employer community.
  • Work to eliminate duplication of services within various branches and layers of government.
  • Promote a more competitive environment in elections for the General Assembly and New Jersey State Senate.

Objective 2: Examine the elimination of layers of government.

Consensus Items :

  • Dual office holding on all levels of government should be prohibited.
  • Municipal aid should tied to the level of shared services, regionalization, or consolidation a municipality engages in.
  • Work with media outlets to improve civics awareness.
  • Create better parity between private and public sector pension and benefits programs.
